Evan was born February 16, 2007. He was diagnosed with several Congential Heart Defects and was emitted to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City Utah. At 4 days old, he underwent his first open heart surgery which was a success. But each time the nurses would remove the intubation tube, Evan’s lung would collapse. After 3 weeks, he was discharged and was able to go home luckily with only a feeding tube and one prescription.

Evan’s parents could not have been happier to finally have their new baby boy home. But every day Evan’s mom thought of all the gifts they were given while Evan was recovering from his surgery. Teddy bears, books, handmade baby booties, and a homemade journal were just a few things he received.

Every 6 months Evan had check-ups and each time he was given gift too; a wooden toy truck, a blanket, or a teddy bear. There were always coloring pages and books to keep him entertained while his parents talked with the Cardiologist.

Again Evan’s mom kept thinking of those things that someone had donated to the hospital to keep their patient and parents comfortable and at ease. She wanted to be able to do that but never could think of the right project.

Our Heart Project was established September 2009.

In 2010, Our Heart Project has 2 projects planned. They plan to participate in The Festival of Trees and the Christmas from the Heart project again.

Project nights will be held for those who would like to help work on projects. (see the calendar for scheduled days and times) Money donations can be made through Paypal by clicking the heart on the sidebar. To send donations by mail, please email info@ourheartproject.org for the mailing address. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
